Terms of Trade

These Terms of Trade apply to all services provided by Good4Wood2023 Ltd (trading as Sash Window Repairs) unless otherwise agreed in writing. By accepting our estimate and scheduling work, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

1. Scope of Services

We provide repair and restoration services for timber joinery, primarily windows and doors. Services will be delivered as outlined in your estimate. Any additional work required that falls outside the agreed scope will be discussed with you and estimated separately.

2. Workmanship and Warranty

We take pride in our workmanship. If a repair we’ve carried out fails due to our error, we will return within a reasonable timeframe to remedy it at no additional cost.

This does not constitute a formal warranty and excludes failures caused by factors beyond our control, including building movement, water ingress, blocked or poorly functioning drainage, or further deterioration in surrounding structures or joinery we did not work on.

Any warranties from third-party hardware or materials suppliers will be passed directly to you.

3. Materials and Finishing

  • Bare timber will be primed only; topcoat painting is excluded unless specifically included in your quote.
  • Putty used must be allowed to cure before painting, which is not included unless specified.
  • Removal of window furnishings is at the owner’s risk.

4. Old Glass and Unexpected Findings

We take care when handling old glass, but due to its fragile nature, breakage may occur. Any unforeseen breakage is at the client’s cost.

If hidden damage is discovered during dismantling, this may require additional repairs, which will be quoted separately.

5. Leaks and Draughts

We cannot guarantee complete elimination of leaks and draughts unless the issue is clearly identifiable and included in the scope of work. We do our best to identify and address the causes with reasonable skill and care.

6. Deposits and Payments

  • 50% deposit is required to confirm the job and schedule work.
  • Final payment is due within 7 days of job completion.
  • Late payments may incur interest at 5% above the prevailing overdraft rate.

7. Late Payment and Recovery Costs

Failure to pay on time without a genuine dispute may result in debt recovery action. You will be liable for all recovery costs, including legal and agency fees.

8. Cancellation and Termination

Cancellations made within 10 working days of the start date may incur costs. We may suspend or terminate work due to non-payment, site safety issues, or miscommunication.

9. Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our maximum liability is limited to the amount paid by you for the related work.

10. Disputes

Disputes should first be addressed informally. If unresolved, they may be referred to mediation under the rules of the Resolution Institute of NZ.

11. General

These terms are governed by NZ law. If any clause is found invalid, the remainder will still apply. We reserve the right to update these Terms of Trade, with the latest version available on our website.
